At our Brisbane practice, we offer different types of dental bridges:
A traditional bridge is anchored on either side with the help of dental crowns placed on natural teeth. They can also be anchored to crowns on dental implants on either side of the missing teeth. Artificial teeth are made from alloys or porcelain and help restore the functionality and aesthetics of your teeth.
In a Cantilever dental bridge, the pontic is anchored to a crown that is cemented to one abutment tooth as compared to the traditional bridges which are supported by two adjacent teeth.
The Maryland dental bridges are also anchored to two adjacent natural abutment teeth. While the traditional bridge is anchored to crowns, the Maryland bridge uses a porcelain or metal framework that is bonded to the abutment teeth.
Implant-supported bridges make use of dental implants in place of frameworks or crowns. One dental implant is placed surgically for each missing tooth and anchors the bridge in position.
